    This is the question: is possible that ADR can degenerate the facet joints in a patient with a perfect facet joints previously to the ADR?

    2009 I made a bulge on L4-L5
    A little of pain when I bend the wrist since that
    Last 5 months the pain is worse
    Jan 2011 Infiltration from my iliac crest of stem cells, an my improve has been medium
    Thinking in ADR seriously..... wich will be the best lumbar implant?

    Welcome to SPS Jacobo, The short answer to your question is yes. Yes, perfectly fine facet joints can begin to show signs of deterioration after ADR surgery. Exactly how soon after? Honestly, I don't know. I do know from my own personal experience that I had my 3 lumbar adr surgery 4 years ago and in that amount of time my facets have gone from being mildly degenerated to now moderately/severely degenerated. Facet joints should always be a consideration before any type of ADR intervention. Cindylou

    • June 2001 Bicycle accident, 2 compression fractures at T12/L1, Vertebroplasty Sept. 2001
    • April 2006 right hip, labral tear and repair
    • April 2007 3 level ProDisc @ L3/4, L4/5 & L5/6✷ ✷Lumbosacral transitional vertebra; Dr. Rudolph Bertagnoli
    • July 2, 2008 ALIF & Laminectomy @ L6/S1
    • July 30, 2008 re-opened 28 days later to remove bone cement that had leaked onto S1 nerve root
    • August 2008 Pulmonary embolism, double pneumonia, collapsed left lung, re-hospitalized 1 week
    • March 10, 2009 Right SI Joint Fusion
    • April 27, 2010 2nd right hip arthroscopy to remove adhesions and release psoas muscle
    • September 30, 2010 lumbar facet rhizotomy
    • December 9, 2010 12 bilateral lumbar trigger point and steroid injections
    • December 23, 2010 12 more bilateral trigger point injections w/o steroid
    • February 15, 2011 ESI bilaterally in lower lumbar...relief only for few days. Considering 1 more.
    Did Spinal Cord Stimulator trial from 5/11/11-5/17/11 with excellent results; Spinal Cord Stimulator surgery is Monday,
