Question Mark Anyone know where I can get a Freedom Lumbar Disc installed without a trial?

I'm pretty much sold on the freedom lumbar disc in case my stem cell treatment doesn't work. I'm just wondering WHERE in the world I can get one without having to go through a trial. I can't risk getting a pro disc installed.

Anyone know of doctors around the world that work with this disc?

    Thanks!

    Hi Mike,

How is the stem cell treatment progressing or is it too early on to tell?

According to this trial page the Freedom trial is still recruiting, thus, I assume the disc is not FDA approved just yet so I haven't heard of anyone using the disc outside of the trial. I wouldn't know if it's being used internationally or not.

    Hey Mike,
I think your best bet would be to call AxioMed. They may be able to give you some info about who and where in Europe is doing a lot with the Freedom disc. They certainly have the info.....just don't know if they will tell you. I am still keeping my fingers crossed your stem cell procedure was a success!

Would you happen to know what doctors or hospitals in the UK use the freedom lumbar disc?

    Thank you!

Mr ERS Ross, the consultant who did my ADR back in 2002, does them privately at Spire Hospital in Manchester. A patient recently on the ADR UK board had one implanted by him this year.

I will tell you the truth, you don't want a "freedom" disk, the surgeon referred to has abandoned them as not suitable for the job. And the one that he did and is shown on my UK website was a total fluke. He's not the greatest surgeon in the world, and I don't like saying that because I don't like "knocking" people but his results have been appalling.
The charitee has now gone and ceased to be manufactured. The active L and C is proving an absolute winner in the UK. The pro disk is still being used, but as you know there are many other similar prosthesis that are available

I have been in the Freedom disc trial but timed out. I had to reenroll after 6 months. Sometinmes I feel like if it weren't for the internet I would have already had surgery now and would not freak out everytime I read something negative about adr. This is the first time I have read something so bad about the Freedom Disc. Alastair, can you elaborate if you can anymore about your info?
    Thanks in advance,
