    Default Cervical surgery scheduled.

    And this time for good.

I am scheduled for November 26 with dr. bertagnoli. The story how I ended here is long and its about time. The plan is for 2 levels c3/4/5 pro disc nova. I am leaving for germany in 3 days and will spend 6 weeks there. There will be parties and more parties. I hope I can handle them as in the past I went to some and it was total torture as I had to lie on the floor in pain. Now my cervical problems have steadily increased and I am getting the typical mleopathy problems. Time to get er done!
Nov 07: Fusion (Stalif) S1/L5, ADR L4/5 (Activ-L)for strong back and leg pain (Zeegers, Germany).
Nov 09: 2 level cervical ADR Prodisc-C (Nova) C4/5/6 to stop progression of cervical myleopathy. (Bertagnoli, Germany).

Words cannot express how happy I am for you, Fuzzy. Can you let me in on your secret on how you made this happen? And tricks so that I can do the same??!!

All jesting aside, I wish you the absolute best, my friend. You've been pretty quiet lately. I guess this explains it
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

Good luck Fuzzy! You're in good hands with one of the surgeons with a huge amount of experience with ADR.

I hate to make light of this, but was one of the limbs on your decision tree not being made to shave your beard ?

I hope you have an uneventful, even enjoyable (if that's even possible)surgery.

    Aarne,

It is great to read that you have a surgery date. I know the last year has been challenging in many respects for you. You'll be in great hands and I know your surgery will be nothing short of a complete success.

Please give Drs. Bertagnoli and Fenk-Mayer my regards.

Let us know if you need anything.

Thank you all. Bags are packed and I am exited

As to my beard. Of cause it did not influence my decision when or where I have the surgery. It shouldn't. I will try to get them so leave as much as possible alone. Maybe I post a picture afterwards. It might look really silly.

Ps. Right now symtoms are reallly bad. If I TALK, my feet go numb. the vibrations from me talking makes me feet and and hand go numb. Sign language with my wife and hold really still to keep symptoms down. This has gone far enough!
