Definitely sounds like distraction pain. That is amazing that all your pain is gone at 5 weeks, that's a super fast recovery.

Hello All,
So it's 4:20 a.m. and I sit here, woken up agin by a burning feeling inmy right foot: as if someone placed some hot embers along the outside bottom of my foot, saving a few for the area just behiind the ball of the foot (front of the arch). My right calf is tight and sore too, but this is really just an ache reminiscent of teenage growing pains.
Not to complain though. I'm nearly five weeks out from my ADR (L5-S1) and things are going well. I have no back pain, no incision pain, and I'm moving around very well: able to spend 20 minutes on the treadmill (walking) and another 20 minutes on the stationary bike daily. Also doing some work in the weight room: only on the machines though, not dong anything that puts direct pressure on my lower back.
The gabapentin doesn't touch this foot pain, and there will be no more sleep for me tonight, but I believe this is a temporary thing for me, probably "distraction pain" that will eventually resolve. I am back to work next week and I'm grateful for that. I wonder how many other back-pain patients are also up suffereing with pain that knows no relief, and I say a silent prayer for all of them.
Definitely sounds like distraction pain. That is amazing that all your pain is gone at 5 weeks, that's a super fast recovery.

What type of disc did they use for you on the L5-S1 area?
Would love to chat with you sometime if you have the time...
Ok, never mind....just saw your intro and saw the ProDisc reference.
Still would like to chat. Hope that distraction pain continues to lessen for you. Hang in there
Yes, that is definitely distraction pain, and it is a bugger, big time. You should consider changing or upping your nerve pain medication, because it will definitely help control this better, but of course, and always, at the instruction of your qualified physician. But try and remember to bring this up at your next appointment, as I see you are heading back to work soon, and you will definitely need to be getting more shut-eye for your work load. Are you starting back full-time? It does sound like you are doing superbly well, all things considered. Hang in there and thanks for posting. Always good to hear about how recoveries are going, and the good ones are so uplifting! My best, Cindylou
