    Default Dr in Houston/Beaumont area?

I am scheduled for surgery in Germany on July 8th (2 fusions c34, c45 and 2 ADR
C56 C67). I thought I had a doctor here at home to be part of the pre and post
op team, but he suddenly withdrew on me.

Does anyone have a recomendation within 3 hrs of Beaumont or Houston TX? Terrifying thought to not have access to follow-up care.

That's a tough one. I'm not familiar with surgeons in the Houston area and many stateside spine surgeons are opting not to see Spine Patients that travel abroad for follow-up care. If you have a good primary care physician, they could be the "go to" person that could orchestrate x-rays post-op. Also, your surgeon might be willing to look at your films post-op. My primary care physician was great for all of my follow-up in 2003 and Drs. Bertagnoli and Fenk-Mayer were more than willing to look at my post-operative films.

If you are not having any issues post-op (migration of the device, instability, etc.), then there's not really that much that goes into post-operative follow-ups. The appointments are usually a quick 5 minutes: "how are you doing? how's your pain? BTW, your films look good. I'll see you in 6 months."

I hope this gives you a few ideas. Good luck!
