The great support I've gotten here has been the one thing, other than my husband, that has carried me through. To be honest, the information I have been given here is what has solved this puzzle. Without it, I would still be at square one.

    Your time will come.
    Thanks for that (above).

I have "Katie from SPS" on the March 17th square on my calendar. Will be sending all my hopes to you on that day. Your updates mean a lot; thank you for posting. Pretty crazy that you and KBear have the same surgery date! Cool.

Gotta love the ability to ignore! LOL It didn't hit me that I was really having surgery until the night before, getting everything ready to go the hospital. I still was doubtful that it was really going to happen, even as they were putting the IV in my arm, not until I woke up and heard it, did I really believe it. I guess after such a long battle, you get used to disappointment and don't want to get your hopes up. It's really gonna happen for you, in just a month! It will be here before you know it. Praying for you.

Careful guys! It is a tentative date, remember....I don't want to come back here with egg on my face in a week or two and say it has changed for whatever reason!! But I LOVE the positive thoughts...bring em on! Boy, do I need them right now...so many other things are going wrong.

Cindylou, I have two farm sitters lined up, just in case something happens to one. One is my farrier and friend. Both have done the job before, just not for this long...it is making me nervous, especially now that my mare is so sick. She is very slowly coming around...but has great difficulty walking. It is pretty serious. And then I go out this morning, and the second one, her five year old filly is limping! I'm just about ready to toss my cookies...she has never been lame before. Each time the vet comes out, it costs half the single airfare to Brazil. Seriously.

This I wish I could ignore....

Carson, you are so sweet! And I can't believe how many of us have/or had surgery around this same time. I hope it is a good omen.

Maverick, I'll send you a PM later today...I have to go to the city for a bit. As for navagating this site, I know what you mean. What I do daily is click on the forums button at the top of the main page, then click on 'new posts' which is in the top left corner I think, and that brings me to the list of latest and greatest to scroll through. I hope that helps.

Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

    Katie,

I am praying that there are no delays in your date of March 17th. That is a good date, my niece was born on that date, it is exactly 1 month after my birthday, it is the date I asked my bride to marry me, and well, it is going to be "your" day now also.

Positive thoughts your way young lady.

Ughhh.. no fun paying those bills. We always joke that Jack (our older white male boxer, yeah, the one that pulled the whole I'm dying thing for 3 months and is now doing great- that one), that he is the $10,000 dog. After his most recent stint and everything else, it's probably more like the 15-20K dog. The things we will do for our beloved 4 legged family members!

Speaking of, we got a new puppy (another white male boxer, swore I wouldn't do that again, because of all the bad recessive medical traits; but I couldn't say no to him). We had him for a week and he got sick, real sick. I was up all night with him one night, he was coughing and hacking and could not breathe. I seriously thought the dog was not going to make it through the night. He ended up at the vet 5 times in 7 days (one of those days he went twice in the same day). The vet thinks that he had the reaction of actually getting kennel cough, from the vaccine he had the week before. He's all better now and is doing great; but it was a scary and expensive experience.

I will be praying for you mare and her baby to get better quick. I know that would be hard to leave if she is not in a stable position and I will pray that will not happen. Much Love, Kathy

    Thanks so much, Kathy.

What is that game on Facebook....Farmville or something? I now know why people play that...all of the drama with none of the cost ;-) If only farm life was that simple...just put it away for the night.

We've had this mare for almost eighteen years, and she has been an absolute doll the whole time. My daughter got her as a green broke mare, just started in her training as a coming three year old, and took her all through Pony Club, doing dressage and eventing...galloping cross country over fences. She's supposed to be my replacement driving horse, as we lost the horse in my avatar just when my back started to go bad and I had to stop driving.

Just when I have a chance of getting better, she starts to go....it just isn't fair. With a lot of luck and nursing, she will come around and have another ten good years or so...fingers crossed.

Oooooh, Katie.....I pray she will come around. She just needs the nursing and TLC that your farm help will provide while you are gone. Keep thinking positive thoughts. I am here for you!

    Big hugs,

Oh Cin, wish I could have that hug in person. Even though the vets are pretty confident that she will be fine in the end, it is so tough watching her in so much pain. I can relate....

But the life is starting to come back in her eyes, and she's a lot more interested in food which is great. She is probably developing ulcers from all the oral meds, but we are treating her for that too. One step at a time....
