Hi John, and welcome from Canada as well.

I hope we can be of help to you, both with education and support. I would have made many different decisions had I known of these forums and what they had to offer.

I am hopefully close to having five discs treated with either ADR or hybrids, a combination of ADR & fusion. It has been a huge battle for over three years, both with the insurance and in finding the right treatment, and I hope you can avoid that.

Best wishes, and I hope to hear more from you.

Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

    Hey John,
I'm new here too. 15 years of pain is a long time. I wish you luck with your surgical journey. I have a tentative date for adr at L5-S1 but can't seem to fully commit. I'm so tired of thinking about it all of the time and of course the never ending pain.
