Welcome to the sight! If there is one thing you'll find from your research is that there are a thousand things that can cause back pain. Fortunately, there is more research going on today than ever before. However, one never realizes how much movement, weight, pressure, and torque is exerted onto the spine until you become a "spiney!"

When things work, the vertebrae, discs, nerves, ligaments, and muscles work in harmony. I never realized how much of an art the spine was until my own back issues.

Although there are many complexities, there is also much research. Also, many of us have gone through our own "journies" and are willing to share our knowledge.

Personally, I feel that Justin's site is one of the least biased towards any specific treatment, very helpful on the "human side" of discussion forums, and basically has many people who want to listen and help. You might also find www.spine-health.com provides a lot of information.

Good luck and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Welcome to the site, and I do second everything Dave just said. So true. I hope you find the answers you are searching for, and lean on us when necessary. This really is the best "support" site around, imho. Don't be a stranger.

Welcome! Yes there are options other then fusion. I feel they are quite good. The only thing is that once we go on this path I am not sure we should be planning on football playing and snowboarding. Although some people do. My surgery did lower my pain level but I feel I need to be careful not to reinjure something and be back where I started.

Take care of yourself keep active but be careful. Good luck on the treasure hunt.
