Sandy, I honestly can't say if any damage would be permanent, but I was pleasantly thrilled to have my neurological problems disappear after I had my ADR put in at C5/6. I had significant compression of the spinal cord at that level (and a bit less at C4/5), enough to have Dr. Fabien Bitan, one of the top US surgeons tell me that if I didn't get it fixed ASAP, I could end up a quadriplegic. Every doctor said that the problems I had couldn't be reversed, just stopped from getting worse.

But after surgery, I could walk with one foot in front of the other again, as well as on my toes and heels which was impossible before, and my bladder/bowel issues pretty much disappeared. No one saw that coming, but I am just thankful that it worked.

So even if you are told that it may be permanent, there is most likely hope that you will recover. Also, as far as your body reacting to the ADR/metals, not only are they doing so from the micro-particles released from the friction as you said, but also from the metal just being there, like when the discs were taped to your arm. You may have a better recovery than you think with that as well, as soon as you get that darn thing out. Think positive...sometimes life surprises you in the very best way (even when it looks pretty gloomy right now).
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

Now the discogram year later to confirm what was already known year ago, this makes NO SENSE to let a person suffer like this, now i wonder do i have damage to the nerves and muscles letting this leak go on for over year, why wont they answer my questions all they want to do is talk about what they want to do

anyone does this excessive leaking from c5 c6 disc cause damage to cord or nerve roots..
It sounds as if your C5/C6 is causing chemical irritation of the nerve root. This chemical irritation doesn't directly "damage" the nerve root -- it causes inflammation and thus radicular pain. If there is also compression of the nerve root and spinal cord, then you could possibly have worrisome findings (pathological reflexes, possible muscle wasting, problems with your gait, etc.). This is not to say that your pain is not real. It sounds like you are in a lot of pain, unfortunately.

In regard to C5/C6, it sounds like your surgeons want to operate at this level as per

What are their plans for moving forward?

    Good luck.
