Thanks for all the replies! I finally got most of my steristrip glue off. I took the advice to use soap and water and gently rubbing it off and then patting it dry. I started using an oil with Vitamin E and coconut butter and hope if will help (it helped with pregnancy stretch marks). They stapled my incision with self resolving staples so need to return to the doctor's office. It still looks very swollen but I truly hope it will settle eventually. This is what it looks like right now.

Makes sense. So, guess it just depends on what the surgery is, where and who the surgeon is. Oh, he described it better than I did, but I've got the pregnant brain and can't remember crap. LOL
You shouldn't feel any difference with staples but I stand behind my original statement, that being it's faster. I'm not familiar with the glue but know there are alternatives for a more cosmetic closure, but take longer. The little gizmo to remove them looks like something from Office Depot and is 1 use throw away. If whoever removes them gets in to big a rush they can pinch a little. Sometimes these statements fall under the category of the art of medicine. That being to come up with what sounds like a rational way of doing something there way.

Have had 11 steroid injections, IDET, Trial for nerve stimulator, PT, chiropractic trial, practically every med known to mankind. Discogram indicated three diseased levels with L5-S1 being the most likely pain generator. Post minimally invasive PLIF with internal fixation (titanium) on 12-28-09 of L5-S1. Doing better than expected. Last opioid 7/9/10. Five months pain free, then my neck turned against me. MRI on 12/1/10-- disease at C2 to C7. Only surgical alternative is to fuse entire C-spine. Diagnosed now with Aggressive Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis with cord & brainstem active lesions

I've been away from surgery too long it seems. Do you have a picture of a resolving staple? How long did they take to resolve? Your incision looks good. They made the cut through the skin in the same direction that the skin stretches. In a couple months I bet no none can tell you had surgery.

Lolneona- Your incision looks really good, especially this early on.

Jack- You are probably right, I'm sure in his profession not too many people "shop around" for the best surgeon or ask many questions. I used to be one of those people, he will probably hate me this time with all my questions and need for explanation- and I'm not so compliant anymore! LOL

    KBear,

I wouldn't think of his surgical skills in a negative way. Unless they are plastic or dermatology surgeons, the skin closure is not on their radar. I'm probably to sensitive about this issue too. At least it does save a little time being under anesthesia (now I'm looking into the art thing).
