I am trying to get a few second opinions on a recommended ADR surgery. I have recent X-rays but my MRI is about 8 months old. So far, one of the doctors I really wanted to see would require me to have new MRI or CT scans since he won't look at anything more than 3 months old. Is this what you all have seen to be the norm? I really don't want to go through the hassle (claustrophobic) and expense of another MRI....thoughts?
Sept 2001: Intense sciatica pain began (after lifetime of on and off back 'issues')
May 2002: Microdiscectomy L4-L5
7 GREAT years!
August 2009: Low back pain begins. Diagnosis - DDD and collapsed L4-L5
2010 - 2 epidurals, oral steroids, PT - no improvement
2011 - L4-L5 - ADR recommended
All the surgeons I saw wanted no more than 6 months old, but preferred less than 3 months old
Yes, most will require a new MRI (most will want within the last 6 months or less).
You could always go to an "open MRI" facility...I just did a quick search and there are a ton of open MRI places in Plano; here's one --> Touchstone Imaging Plano.
