There is a possibility that if other companies start giving them some competition, getting a new disc out could occur much faster. There is always hope. In reading on this site, I feel like we're right around the corner from having revolutionary improvements in spine operations.
    Diagnosis:
    Degenerative disc disease throughout spine
Generalized disc bulging with mild narrowing of thecal sac in L2-L3, L3-L4, L4-L5, L5-S1.
    Moderate spinal stenosis L4-L5
    Foraminal narrowing
    Recent compression Fx at T10,T11.
    Treatment:
    Spinal decompression 2007
Cortisone injection in lower back in 2010
    Relieved of pain for now
    Hope for ADR

I'll be pushing up daisies in 2082.
However my youngest will only be 78 years old, something like that.
    LOL.
I would think that all the people who have successful ADRs would turn the heads of surgeons and insurance companies alike. I think it is already happening with the cervical disc and hopefully lumbar is not too far behind.
    All the technology is advancing.
I wonder what the count is now for how many Americans who have gone overseas for artificial disc surgery?

LMAO... I'll be 102.... Reminds me of a couple of months ago when my older daughter asked me when I was born. I said 1980 and she said "No, I mean two thousand and what?" LOL I had to explain to her that I was born before it became two thousand. I still don't think she got it.

    Kathy,

I graduated from high school in 1980.
    Boy do I feel old.
However, they say you are only as old as you feel.
Today, I feel about 80--so that saying does not help.
I used to feel about 30.
Those were the days... (from the song in All in the Family, for people around my age-group).

LOL... It's all relative. I knew 70 somethings who were more active than me in my late 20's. I keep saying that my 30's are going to be better than my 20's physically, so far so good!

Speaking of kids understanding of age; my oldest son said, "Mom, what was it like in the British Invasion?" I said, "I certainly wasn't alive then." He said, "No, I mean when the Beatles came over."
    Oh, well. It's all perspective.
