Default Whom do you trust with Cervical ADR surgery in Houston TX?

I was diagnosed with central spinal stenosis @ C3-4 ~ four yrs ago. Now at age 56 symptoms are worstening and I can't wait much longer. The original neurosurgeon (Beaumont TX) recommended fusion, but instead an ADR inherantly seems better. Although the Bryan disk was approved in early 2009, I notice no one seems to talk about this disk. Has it a bad reputation or just not available?

I look forward to hearing from any and all of you

    Thanks
    Gary

Gary, I have no experience with Houston dr's, I am North of Dallas, in Denton, TX. I know that DaveInAustin had surgery with a good surgeon in Austin.... although that's not terribly close to Houston. I'm sure there are lots of good surgeons in Houston, being a big city and a medical destination.
Sorry you have to be here; but welcome.

There are numerous references to surgeons in Dallas, but I find little on Houston doctors. Does anyone have experience with surgeons in Houston, such as Dr Heilman?

    Hi Gary,

Welcome to the Spine Patient Society!

I'm not familiar with Dr. Heilman. However, I do know (as you mentioned) that there are many surgeons in Dallas with many years of experience with artificial disc replacement.

Traveling for surgical experience (number of cases) might be worth it.

I'd not allow my geography to dictate or limit my options. Look into the best surgeon for your specific needs according to your own criteria wherever they are. Some travel to Germany and Brazil to have their needs met. If you're in Houston, the Texas Back Institute would be a tremendous start based on the reading I've done over the last few years and my communication with them regarding the current Freedom trials.
