Hey Jill,
Thanks for this information. I hope you are doing well. If I remember correctly, your surgery date is right around the corner (August 19th?).

This is a discussion on You maybe interested in something called GUNA within the Artificial Disc Replacement forums, part of the Spine Surgery Support category; Am doing some cranial sacrial stuff, deep myeofasical massage & PT - found a group who does more aggressive work ...
Am doing some cranial sacrial stuff, deep myeofasical massage & PT - found a group who does more aggressive work in this area for the muscles.
AND a product called GUNA made in Italy is amazing at what is can do for the muscles - they have different types of injections depending on the area & type of issue neuro or nerve etc - & ALL are FDA approved homeopathic is collagen in some of them. Some injectiosn are geared for the knees or face, some for the Cervical spine & for Thoracic - he mixed up both for me in those places along with neuro & collagen.
I have found out I have scoliosis in my Thoracic I have shifted to the right so 2 doc's have confirmed this this week both reg. MD's. who noticed.
Insurance pays for them even, to try to spare my muscles just remove ONLY the extra rib - is my hope - it is helping so will see a MD is giving these to me. Am also doing traction to the neck with a thing you hang with weights over the door same MD told me to get one - so trying to help this all I can ahead of time.
It is keeping me busy & should know before the surgery date. I have the BEST technique for what I need to have done - I found 2 articles written in Europe & one here both saying for my extra rib this Subclavical approach not as pretty is the better approach - the other approach would be better if I was NOT with this extra rib. So I am doing as much as I can to hedge my bets of course J
GUNA has helped my neck a lot & the muscles just the extra rib where that is compressing it cant help so far but if I have to go under the knife my hope is to do less by doing all of this & have a peace that I tried everything.
I feel I am getting answers and will hopefully recover faster for having done so.
I miss chatting but thinking of you. I wanted to let you know about GUNA as it has applications for spiney's too. It is Homeopathic remedies that has garnered both FDA & insurance approval. They also have oral remedies as well. Anything that can lessen the pain and help relieve muscle tension without drugs or side affects is welcomed by me that also can rebuild them over the long haul is well. They have a lumbar version as well. Helps to hydrate the muscles & rebuild not sure on the disc portion on this but something to look into.
always
Jill
