6 week post op with Dr P in Brazil. Charite disks at L5S1 and L4/5 2001 . Facet joints where degenerated at both levels.I was in severe pain and unable to stand and could only walk a couple of meters. Dr P had to fuse L5S1 because the facet joints had started to self fuse and he was unable to do facet joint resurfacing at this level.L4/5 WAS SUCCESFUL FOR facet resurfacing. The flight back to Aus was 34 hours and 4 planes which near killed me.Pains levels are very high and unfortunatel I cannot take narcotics or Lyrica I am only on paracetamol.
I am only able to get up every hour and walk for 6 minutes and sit for 10 minutes 3 times a day.
I tried some physio excercises last week and the pain was horrific.
sleeping at night with the aid of valium and sleeping tablets.
Any suggestions on meds for a person that is intolerant to narcotics?
Im desperate
Cheers Anna

    Hi Anna,

No ones reads these blog things, you should start a new thread.

I'm Aussie too, have you got a pain management doc who can help? I don't know much about meds sorry, but some of the others here will.

You must be in terrible pain, hope you're ok.

    Chris.

Have you tried Gabbapentin (aka Neurontin) It is for nerve pain but can alkso be used for pain relief for people getting off certain narcotic medications. I am taking it and have had some relief. I have had pain in my knees and once I started taking the gabbapentin, the pain in my knees is gone.
