Well, Today was my first actual shower since the date of surgery. The hospital nursing aid staff was really not that good at being on top of things like that, however I will say for the mostpart, the was one nurse aid and the majority of the nursing staff that actually knew they were there to do a job and they did it because they liked it.
It felt great to shower, i never realized how much something so simple can be taken for grantid when you cannot do it on a regular basis unless you have someone else there to help you. I am not sure if it is normal or not but its day 5 post surgery and I still have some oozing coming from the incisions in my back. Yesterday they told me that it really isnt much to worry about, I guess the only thing I have to remember is not to put on white shirts.
Showering proved to be eventful as I had to use the was to balance myself, ensure that I didnt bend or twist at the waist, and try not to fall down. I am please to announce that today I was successful at all of those things, although I could not have done it alone. I have to say that other than the severe leg spasms that I am having in my left leg, which I have medication waiting for compt to approve that will take that pain away, I still would do the surgery with no regrets. I am getting around much faster than I planned. Yesterday I stopped using the walker and began using a cane for the first time, although there were a couple of times a walker would have come in handy, I had someone with me for while I was using the cane.
