Good for you for sticking to your guns for the IV. Past experiences sure give us a backbone...oh wait, that wasn't meant to be a pun

Hugs sweetie, and let me know if you'd like to chat.

Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. CL,

I had one of those things last year plus an epidural. The epidural did not work but the SIJ injection did. Haven't really felt any SI joint pain since then.

    CL,

Have you received any relief from the SI injection??? The SI joints have been a major pain source for me, got so much worse after ALIF surgery and finally started getting better several weeks ago. I asked the Dr about when I would be clear for an injection and they told me they would prefer I wait 3 months post-op but if it was absolutely necessary I could get one.....Well it's time because the last 3 days have been non-stop SI joint pain from hell. So I am hoping they are working some for you because I cant think of anything worse than constant SI joint pain.

One thing I noticed about my SI joint pain was no matter how much medication I took it never seemed to take away the pain. It would sometimes dull it but it seems that the pain is such a precise sharp intense stabbing pain that the meds just couldnt kill it (I wish this wasn't the case for me). Have you had similar experiences or does medication control your SI joint pain? Hoping the best for you!

    Cindylou,

I just read your signature. Looks like you have had more than your fair share of bone issues. It is about time the force gets with you.

I took this motivational course a long time ago called "The Dale Carnegie Course" In fact, I was impressed enough that I took it again which had nothing to do with the fact that the assistant course teacher was a girl that was very easy on the eye. Well, maybe a little. One of their key points was if you act enthusiastic you will be enthusiastic. Another was smile, and the power of positive thinking. Hard as it may seem, this stuff does make a difference. Another thing that I added was a banana split chased with a chocolate milk shake to ease post procedure pain purchased on the way home.
Low back pain became somewhat dehabilitating in 2005
Have had 11 steroid injections, IDET, Trial for nerve stimulator, PT, chiropractic trial, practically every med known to mankind. Discogram indicated three diseased levels with L5-S1 being the most likely pain generator. Post minimally invasive PLIF with internal fixation (titanium) on 12-28-09 of L5-S1. Doing better than expected. Last opioid 7/9/10. Five months pain free, then my neck turned against me. MRI on 12/1/10-- disease at C2 to C7. Only surgical alternative is to fuse entire C-spine. Diagnosed now with Aggressive Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis with cord & brainstem active lesions

Greg and Jack of all Trades, thank-you for your replies, concern and suggestions. First Greg: no, I don't get complete relief from my SI Joint pain even with pain meds....not by a long shot. I have been walking and just had to stop in my tracks and gasp out loud from the sharp pain. Something is really wrong with this fusion....I truly believe it did not fuse. Too many pain issues right there. So unfortunate and I don't want to even let my head go to what that means. Fortunately, I do see my surgeon who performed this fusion on Tuesday. So we'll see. He'll probably order another Cat Scan and compare it to the one done in March, is my guess. I will keep you posted on that one. And on the injection I had for that area a few days ago, I think I am just beginning to get some relief....I am anxious to see if it kicks in more in the next few days. Jack: I am a huge believer in the "fake it till you make it" philosophy. I usually am a very upbeat person to be around....however, when my pain levels are up or I am dealing with my best friend's imposing death, which I am right now, I head for the hills. Escape. Be alone. Wail. Mourn. Reflect. So, thank-you for caring. Even when I head for the hills, (my cabin) I'lll still take all the love and support anyone is throwing my way. Damn straight.
