Thank you. No reschedule given, our NHS system is a huge bureaucratic mess. It works ok with acute conditions but dealing with it long term with a chronic condition can be very frustrating.

I've been waiting since November so another month won't make any difference. I don't want any more surgery this year even if the disco shows more problems. It'll only be if the instrumentation looks like it needs supplementing that I agree to another op.

Got a new appointment date through but its right before our 25th wedding anniversary so I said no. Really upset but my wonderful Mark has to put up with enough and cancelling our daughters, friends and family visiting because I will be recovering is too much to ask. Hopefully will get one through for the next week (22nd April) or not too long after that.

hope you manage to get a date sorted. Its typical waiting for so long for a date and then it clashes with the only thing you have planned. We had to cancell going to a family wedding back end of last year as sarah got an appointment through for an mri which was needed for the operation. FLAMING NHS.........

Congratulations on your 25th wedding anniversary!
It is a wonderful milestone and you have every right to enjoy it with your husband and family.

I sure would not want to have a discogram done right before a celebration either - who would? I am sorry that there have been so many delays in scheduling. They really should have rescheduled when they cancelled the first time. What? Do they have one person responsible for cancellations and one for scheduling? I apologize for the sarcasm, but I just cannot believe that you have to wait so long when you are in a lot pain and need relief.

Is there any way your doctor can intervene on your behalf by putting a rush on it?

As a retired military dependent, I would normally experience long delays for specialty services as well. But in this case, I am lucky that they don't offer neurosurgery or pain management because I am allowed to go off base for care. However, I understand all to well how frustrating it is to wait for weeks on end.

I hope they come through for you soon!

Thanks for the good wishes, we feel its a milestone well worth celebrating too!

The NHS in the UK is a deeply flawed health system for chronic conditions. There is a target 18 week wait for an appointment which ends up being met occasionally. However you then have to wait another 18 weeks for any tests and then another 18 weeks to see the consultant to discuss the results and so on and so on. It can take years to get any progress.

If only I didn't have a pre existing condition and could get accepted on a private healthcare plan .

    18 WEEKS!

I am now counting my blessings. I've had to wait 8 weeks or longer to see a specialist, but never 18.

Wow, I sure feel for you.

I'm sorry for the conflict too, Alison....but still a big congrats is in order for your 25th wedding anniversary coming up! Hang in there. These are just some of the fears I have if our healthcare bill passes. I've already lost 9 years of my life since my bicycle accident. Waiting 18 weeks between appt.'s.....I might as well dig my grave now. (I'm not trying to start a political debate with anyone regarding this. Just a middle aged woman expressing her fears.)
