    Allison,
I'm so sorry that you are going though so much pain. You have been through so much girl and I hope that you are feeling a little better tomorrow. Is there any way you can call about your results there or do you have to wait all the way until the appt.? I wil be thinking of you in the coming days and wishing for you some much needed relief.

I know the feeling, I have diagnosed myself with a couple of terminal illnesses when my mind had too much time! LOL Hope you have a great day tomorrow!

If it were me, I think I would ask and push Hard for some type of conscious sedation. It makes a world of difference. You don't want to be sound asleep but do want to be at peace with your world. It can be an unforgettable, which means unforgivable experience. There are some docs who for their rationalized reasons want to do this study with just local, a bad idea.

My surgeon stain the only thing he needs is as recent MRI and flex/extend plain films. The discogram was not needed except in rare cases. I wished I had known that before I came to see him.
Low back pain became somewhat dehabilitating in 2005
Have had 11 steroid injections, IDET, Trial for nerve stimulator, PT, chiropractic trial, practically every med known to mankind. Discogram indicated three diseased levels with L5-S1 being the most likely pain generator. Post minimally invasive PLIF with internal fixation (titanium) on 12-28-09 of L5-S1. Doing better than expected. Last opioid 7/9/10. Five months pain free, then my neck turned against me. MRI on 12/1/10-- disease at C2 to C7. Only surgical alternative is to fuse entire C-spine. Diagnosed now with Aggressive Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis with cord & brainstem active lesions

I had concious sedation, it still really hurt but the memory of it now is more like a bad nightmare. It was needed as MRI, CT and X rays are not showing clearly what is going on. I am having a few good hours where I can be up and about but the pain doesn't respond to normal meds and settle at all. It'll ease up eventually, my nerves do not like being messed with.

    Thanks Ryan.

I'm being bundled up and taken away to our place in wales for a long weekend tomorrow so i can at least look out of the window at a different view for a bit. The weather forecast is for reasonable weather so I'm hoping it'll turn out that way. Its been two long painful weeks.

Thanks hun, I am so bored of being at home and since we bought a memory foam topper for wales its alot more viable being there. I was expecting it to be bad but not for the meds to not work at all so its a long haul, I'm getting slightly longer spells of feeling better so hoping that these continue to increase.

    Are you continuing to improve?

    Hey Allison,
I am so glad that you are getting longer periods of pain relief. Hopefully this is a good sign. I hope you have a great time in Wales. I bet it is beautiful there. Will you be by the sea? Don't do like CL and forget to bring your meds even though they don't seem to work well lately for you. Wishing for you some much needed pain relief and hopefully this change of scenery will help you tremendously.
    Take Care,
