I think it varies widely from person to person. I have never gotten any relief from injections and I've had plenty. My husband had his first one, I believe it lasted about 6 months, then he had another. That one has lasted 4 years now.

About 6 weeks ago, I had facet joint injections at C3-4 and C4-5. I got about 25% relief, which lasted about 4 weeks.
About 2 weeks ago, I had 2 injections in my AO joint, 2 facet injections in C1-C2, 2 facet injections in C2-3, and an injection in the C2 nerve root. I got about 60% relief, which lasted about 1-1/2 weeks and then the horrible pain came back.
Now my doctor wants me to have another set of injections to the upper cervical area. Considering that the relief from the last set of injections lasted less than 2 weeks, I am somewhat reluctant to get them done again.
Can anyone tell me how long they got relief from facet, nerve root, or other injections? Does the relief get longer with each set of injections, or does the relief generally last the same each time?
Any help you all can give me on this subject would be appreciated!![]()

Hi,
I definitely agree with KBear. There is no hard fast rule for pain relief, unfortunately!
I had 3 injections in my lower back (several years ago) for herniated disk L4-L5. The first 2 lasted about 3 months each, however, the 3rd one has lasted about 2 years. I am very thankful that it has.
When my cervical pain started last December, I had an injection then which lasted about 3 months. The 2nd one in March lasted about 4 months. The 3rd one in July provided no relief and the 4th one only lasted about 1 week. I'm now in the process of getting my cervical ADR (C6-C7) scheduled, due to herniation with spinal cord compression.
I hope this info helps and I hope you start feeling better!!!
Best Always,

Thanks for all the replies! It gives me hope that maybe my next injections will "take" for more than a week!
