L5/S1 Nerve Root Injection

Just got back from my surgeons office after getting my injection. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. After two oh 's while he was numbing me, all I felt was some deep pressure and a little burning sensation. The whole proceedure took less than 10 minutes.

I got pretty quezy on they way home and broke out in a very heavy sweat, but I think that was more mental than anything else. Right now I am completly pain free and oh what a feeling that is. Tomorrow I might feel a little pain but it has to be better than what I had going in.

That's great Dave! My hubby gets complete relief from the injections, says he feels better than he did in his 20's.

Woke up this morning expecting to feel some discomfort, but much to my surprise there is none. I took 5 mg of Norco before I left for work just in case, but so far so good. I normally work on processing issues and new tool samples but today I will be sitting in my office for 11 hours, so this should be a good test. Normally sitting for an hour made me grit my teeth.

Woo hooooo I am soooo glad that it worked! You are up there with all the 'normal' people who get relief from this Did the doc give you any idea how long it will last/how often you may need to get them? I can't remember what my doc told me way back when.

He told me anywhere from 3-6 months average. That's a pretty broad range in my book. I have to call him when I think I might need another.

What kind of injection was it again Dave? That is awesome news you are getting such incredible relief. It is just such a high, isn't it, when all of a sudden your pain is gone. And you start thinking...wow, this is how alot of people wake up every day, with NO PAIN. Relish it. Relish it. God bless.

Remember to get up and stretch throughout the day, so your muscles don't get all tight and 'locked up'. So glad you are feeling so well.

On the injections, I think it varies widely how long they last. My husband's first one lasted about 3 months (he had it in June 2006). His second one was about 4 months after the first (October 2006) and has lasted for almost 3 years. He still has no back pain, aside from the occassional pain from overdoing it; but has not had another injcetion since.
