    Thanks people.

PT is going well. This is weird, but my hip bone had rotated 1/2" on the left side. My therapist is pulling her hair out. It seems every time I go in I have new issues. She popped me back into place, then found a muscle that was tight. Me being a dummy, told her that the knot was a bone. Not. I have had a muscle as tight as a golf ball for as long as I can remember. She fixed it and boy does that feel better.

I have been approved and excepted in a pain clinic, which I felt I needed since my doctor blew me off, and have my first appointment on 12.14.09. At that time they will go over my MRI, give me some injections and start me on a opioid contract.

I'm not sure why I got pushed aside at by my surgeon, other than the fact that they are so overbooked it is ridiculous. I wait an hour to get in and he has been giving me 1 minute at the most. That for $180.

    The saga continues

Dave, which is worse for you right now? Your lumbar issues or your cervical ones? I'm guessing lumbar but I can see from your hx you have some serious cervical deterioration going on as well.

Which surgeon blew you off? Was it the one who did your lumbar surgery? What a shame. I hate to hear that.

I'm glad you took the bull by the horns tho, and found another one for your continuity of care (or rather your attempt to get back some continuity of care). I hope the time goes by fast for you while you wait for your next injection on Dec. 14th at your new pain clinic. Good luck!

    Dave-

My name is Danielle and I just joined this forum last week. You may even have posted something to my story, I don't remember. Anyway, I feel your pain and I mean that both literally and figuratively. It drives me crazy to hear people that are supposed to be my close friends, saying stuff like "so what is the problem today?" Oh that pisses me off.

I have tears in my eyes for your story, because I so understand how it feels to have people just not get what it's like to live in pain, every damn minute of every damn day.

You keep your chin up and know that we are here for each other. For me, just having this group has made a difference emotionally for me. I like knowing I can talk to others who are suffering from back pain and know what it's like to try to live a normal life, despite being in chronic pain.

    Good luck!

    Hey Dave,

I do hope the injections on 12/14 help and that they can place you on a regimen that will help with your pain. Sorry about being pushed aside by your surgeon--I have been there in the past and it can be a painful punch in the stomach, especially when you are paying a lot of money for that punch.

Pain relief is right around the corner, my friend.

Dave, I'm sorry your surgeon brushed you off. It seems like they do a procedure/injection/surgery and just expect you'll be pain free and not need any pain relief. Seems like they would be the first to know that that is not how it works for some of us. Glad you found a pain management doctor. I have found that very helpful, so no matter who I am seeing for surgery or whatever, I still have a central place for medication and referrals.

Thanks guys and gals. Only 28 more days to go before I start to get some relief. The Darvacet I am taking does dull the pain to a low roar right now, so it is not all consuming. It is almost like after a while you get used to the pain that is there all the time so it seems not to hurt as much. Does that make sence? It's just enough to let you know that something is broken in the machine we call a body. I also started to take Soma in the morning and at night, so that helps also.

It's funny (in a figurative way) how much more pain that the Lumbar region is generating than my Cervical region in the past.

Thanks for the continued support you all so graciously give me.

Yes, you are totally right Dave. I feel the same way. I may get up in the morning and walk to get coffee, and my husband will say, wow...how is your back this morning? You look better. Of course the pain is there. It's always there. But you have to keep moving forward physically and mentally. I know my husband is having wishful thinking and I can't blame him for that. He just can't fix it, and he wishes he could, like all the many things he can fix. By the end of the day, especially a day I have Tully, my back is really killing me and all I can do is sit and ice/heat. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna let this chronic pain take me down!

Hang in there for your December appt. I know you have a will strong like mine.

Dave & CL- You both are so right. CL- reading your post made me cry. This is a hard road to go down; but we have no choice and are doing the best we can. Maybe one day, others will not have to go through this, because there will be better technology to fix the problem. A girl can dream, right?
