I had my second right facet block yesterday morning. I had sedation this time and a different doctor and what a difference it made. I felt it, but it wasn't torture this time. I got excellent relief for about 2 hours so now we wait and see how long it takes for the insurance to approve the cauterization. Yesterday's doctor said it usually doesn't take longer than 2 weeks, and he thinks I will definitely get some good results from the right facet rhizotomy. Let's hope so. I also went to my pain management clinic the day before the facet block because my pain levels have just been unmanageable (likely not having my fentanyl patches), and my Mom is in town visiting from Dallas for a week. The Nurse Practioner was great and doubled my oral meds per day, to get me through until she can write a script for my fentanyl patches in two weeks. She could tell I was just hobbled in pain and limping, and I just hate for my Mom to see me in so much pain. My Mom was my driver yesterday so she got to drive my new Mini-Cooper. (I'll try and post a picture....I posted one on Facebook. I've only had it 2 weeks.) Anyway, we headed north because she likes to get up to the cabin for a few days and she even has a childhood friend who lives up this way she likes to visit. So she got dropped off for an overnight with her friend and then I did drive the last hour up to our cabin. Wasn't supposed to drive, but did fine. We haven't been up here for a whole month with everything going on. Her friend will drive her up here sometime this afternoon for the rest of the weekend. The weather is just incredible now. High's in the 70's and lows in the 50's. My favorite kind of temperatures. Yesterday an eagle flew right through the giant pines right by the front windows facing the lake, and I just said, "thank-you God."
