Default Getting a New Knee or Hip? Do It Right the First Time

The article "Getting a New Knee or Hip? Do It Right the First Time", see http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/03/he...e&ref=homepage, was in the New York Times on July 2... while it pertains to artificial hips and knees I think the advice given also pertains to patients pursuing artificial disc replacement for many reasons.

A link in the article is to an older article "Concerns Over ‘Metal on Metal’ Hip Implants" appeared in the New York Times on March 3, see http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/04/he...4metalhip.html, is also worth the read... pertains to wear debris from metal on metal hip implants, but again some of the concerns may pertain to metal on metal artificial disc replacement.

    Enjoy!

ps... Justin, since these are not journal articles feel free to move them/delete them as you see fit.

Good points in the story. The gender specific knee I would guess is all promotion lol. I think the future is custom made knees with peek on peek material, but who knows if that material will cause harm. We just need to master stem cells is what I say, but again somewhat dangerous bc no long term data I presume. I have a feeling though adult stem cells wont be a problem, but maybe im wrong.
Riding 4 wheeler and playing basketball. Collide with guy in mid air and I hit concrete on one leg and then fall down. Wake up in pain cant move for few hours, fine few days later. Back never the same.

dec 2007 horseplaying with father, contained l5-s1 disc herniation with sciata on right leg, traction helps and time, pain free, diagnosed ddd l4/l5 and l5/s1
