When I first started on Cymbalta, 2 years ago, it completely took away all my pain. This lasted for about a month, then I started hurting again. Not sure if the pain cam back because of physical therapy, or if my body just got used to Cymbalta.

Lilly study claims Cymbalta reduces chronic back pain.
The AP (9/11) reported, "Eli Lilly & Co. said Friday Cymbalta [duloxetine HCl] reduced pain over 41 weeks for patients with chronic lower back pain, as the drugmaker again tries to gain Food and Drug Administration approval for the new use." In Lilly's "extension study involving 181 patients, the company said an evaluation of 58 patients showed there was a 30 percent reduction in pain over 41 weeks." For over a year, the company "has been trying to gain approval for the new indication," but in November 2008 "withdrew its FDA application...after agency evaluators questioned the drug's effectiveness in treating chronic pain." Reuters (9/11) added that Lilly in June resubmitted its supplemental New Drug Application to the FDA for Cymbalta for the management of chronic pain.
