    Interesting read.

Justin, what aspect of smoking do you feel affects these studies more, the cellular damage or the relative sedate lifestyle (no exercise routine) of a smoker?

I've always wondered if the sedate lifestyle was a more prominant cause than the chemicals released in the bloodstream.

Hey Bob, I'm headed out the door right now...I'll reply later today to your questions. However, I just posted a new publication from Spine on this subject: Smokers Show Less Improvement Than Nonsmokers Two Years after Surgery for Lumbar Spinal Stenosis: A Study of 4555 Patients - Swedish Spine Register.
