    Default Injection of Methylene Blue

    A simple procedure injecting 1 ml of 1% methylene blue followed by 1 ml 2% lidocaine into damaged disc has achieved unprecedented results

    Riding 4 wheeler and playing basketball. Collide with guy in mid air and I hit concrete on one leg and then fall down. Wake up in pain cant move for few hours, fine few days later. Back never the same.

    dec 2007 horseplaying with father, contained l5-s1 disc herniation with sciata on right leg, traction helps and time, pain free, diagnosed ddd l4/l5 and l5/s1

    Hi sportsnut. I had this procedure done to my three bottom lumbar discs last August. My surgeon at the time had heard of the progress with this at a conference in London England last May. He had a number of patients but had no solid results when he tried it on me.

    Unfortunately it had no good results. There was perhaps a slight improvement in my pain for a few days post surgery, but overall nothing good. I had it done immediately after a three level discogram though, so that may or may not have had some influence on the results. I understand from the results of others though that it has been successful in other cases.
    Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
    Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
    Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

    Sorry it didnt help katie. How are you recovering from surgery? I feel like such a whiner bc I have yet had no surgeries but at 27 to have 2 degenerative discs in lower back is very scary to me although currently,luckily not in pain. You would think I had played in the nfl or something. Im praying/hoping my glucosamine ,flax seed, and omega 3 rehydrate the discs somehow and keep me inflated till stem cells get here lol.

    Sportsnut, just out of curiousity, how did you even discover you had two degenerative discs, if they haven't been pain generators for you?

    • April 2006 right hip, labral tear and repair
    • April 2007 3 level ProDisc @ L3/4, L4/5 & L5/6✷ ✷Lumbosacral transitional vertebra; Dr. Rudolph Bertagnoli
    • July 2, 2008 ALIF & Laminectomy @ L6/S1
    • July 30, 2008 re-opened 28 days later to remove bone cement that had leaked onto S1 nerve root
    • August 2008 Pulmonary embolism, double pneumonia, collapsed left lung, re-hospitalized 1 week
    • March 10, 2009 Right SI Joint Fusion
    • April 27, 2010 2nd right hip arthroscopy to remove adhesions and release psoas muscle
    • September 30, 2010 lumbar facet rhizotomy
    • December 9, 2010 12 bilateral lumbar trigger point and steroid injections
    • December 23, 2010 12 more bilateral trigger point injections w/o steroid
    • February 15, 2011 ESI bilaterally in lower lumbar...relief only for few days. Considering 1 more.
    Did Spinal Cord Stimulator trial from 5/11/11-5/17/11 with excellent results; Spinal Cord Stimulator surgery is Monday,
