I've always felt cage placement and especially keeled disc placement is a far more critical aspect of a successful outcome than than the usual patient can grasp. Disc placement is the surgeon's task, nothing we can do about it aside from choosing a great surgeon, so subject of disc placement gets little attention.
If a disc is misplaced, it only makes sense that imbalance is going to "ripple" or "domino effect" through the spine sooner or later. I've seen MRI of a Charite implanted upside down and we've all seen misplaced discs. Hope this placement tech advances.
