Check with your doctor if he is willing (and certified) to try a laser prodecure (laser decompression or laser annuloplasty). According to some studies, using a laser for discogenic low back pain and annular tears can achieve up to 90% success rate.

CD, to the site, it is a great place to research, support and to vent . Back pain is hard to deal with, especially when you are also trying to raise young children. I have 2 girls, a 6 year old and a 3 year old (they were 2 weeks and 2 years when I was injured). On the other hand, having to care for them, kept me active, whether I felt like it or not.

It sounds like you have made a great, educated decision with ADR. I had an IDET and it did absoluting nothing to help me, maybe even made it worse. My diagnosis was DDD post-Idet. I would definitely check into clinical trials for surgery. You can go to clinical trials.gov (google it for the exact address). My insurance, Unicare, denied my surgery as well. I found a trial with devices that I would be happy with, called, got approved and had surgery. I flew to Miami for surgery, as the trial in my area had already closed. I flew out once for getting in the trial part, to make sure I was a canidate for the trial. Then, I flew out for surgery. I had to pay for my travel, hotel, and such; but all of the surgery costs were paid. All the travel ended up being around ($7,000); not bad considering what surgery costs.

Good Luck & let us know if you need anything!

What are the certain conditions that this laser treatment can cure? Is this a procedure considered by most insurance companies as the infamous term "EXPERIMENTAL"?

Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome. I have been a complete maniac working on my appeal. As most of you already know, I have to work on it spurts as sitting is extremely rough. My Insurance Warrior book should be here tomorrow. I have scalped every morsel I can from this website about filing an appeal. My goal is to have it in the mail by this Friday. I even have a couple of lawyer friends set to review it for my before I send it on its way.

Kathy, thank you for the info about the clinical trials. I emailed a lady in Atlanta about the AxioMed/Freedom trial. Atlanta is only about 3 1/2 hours away and I am SO WILLING to travel. They just got back to me and were very nice. I am out of luck because they only take Atlanta residents. I will keep trying. BTW, this pictures of your girls are awesome!

Thanks and have a Great Day!

No Greg, laser procedures on spine are NOT experimental.

In this concrete case with discogenic low back pain (if sinu-vertebral nerve irritation causes pains) laser can help according to many studies. Annular tears, radial tears, and similar conditions are covered.
