Bogen, Germany is a town of about ~7k people. It sounds smaller than it really is. Everything (restaurants, shopping, etc.) is all located on one "Main St" (Stadtplatz). Even though it is small, I was quite surprised by how many shops are on Main St.
There are a handful of restaurants (one Chinese [pretty good], a couple Italian [the one we tried was fantastic--big portions, fresh pasta--and meals were only 5 euros!], a German restaurant [it was OK], a couple of Pizza places, two Bakeries [the breads and sweets are incredible and very cheap], and a couple of Gelato places [it's Gelato, so you know it's great--the place at Stadtplatz & Mussinanstraße on the way to the ProSpine & Klinik Bogen is incredible!]).
The post office is located at the center of Main St. and an ATM can be found directly inside.
There is a Woolworth store for toiletries and a couple Apothecaries. Most places are within walking distance (5-10 min).
Overall, Bogen is a great little place and its beauty is a great sight before surgery. It is "more of a town" than I thought it was going to be and how it is described on some websites.
