    Default Big Fish Tales...

CL's post regarding her pike reminded me of this catfish that was caught in our neighborhood pond last weekend. It's not a huge pond, 6 acres maybe? Anyway, hubby was down there when this guy who was fishing for bass caught this 25lb catfish. Hubby got down and pulled it out of the water for him, took the hook out of it's mouth and held it for the picture. The guy was scared of catfish, apparently, he said he had stepped on one as a child and was terrified ever since. Here's a picture:

Did they put it back? A catch and release? That think is huge! Sure outweighs the one inch ones I had in my aquarium

In my younger days I lived in the Yukon, and while I didn't catch any, I remember friends catching 55 lb lake trout. Talk about a fish tale I doubt that there are many of those left now.

Do catfish have teeth? I remember catching northern pike too, and was afraid of them in the bottom of the boat with their huge mouth and teeth. Snakes, no problem. Fish with big teeth, I'm outta there!

You could have quite the catfish fry with that bad boy! Eating catfish is very popular in Texas.

That is a beast! Yeah, eating catfish in Texas is huge. In a pond, of all things. Catfish scare me too. I don't mind getting my fish off the line to catch and release fish, except those big ole' ugly catfish. They hiss you know!

Katie- I really don't know if they have teeth... I'm a chicken and will not touch a fish! I know they can get you with their body and hurt you.

We didn't keep it, it is catch and release at the pond.

We went to the lake on Sunday and went fishing in a friend's boat. We caught tons of crappie (which are delicious) and I caught a sand bass. Funny thing was, I didn't even put a line in, because we were catching so quickly and I kept having to help my kids reel em' in. So, I caught my sand bass on a little Barbie rod and reel! We caught quite a few on the kids little rod and reels! It was pretty funny, pulling a good size fish out on one of those itty bitty rods! I have pictures on hubby's phone, once I figure how to get them off of their, I will post on here.
