Alison, I will definitely take photos at my son's Ironman in September and post some. He's done alot of triatholons too. Rowing was his sport in college. He was on the team and he was also in a twin cities rowing club after college. It was w/ the sport of rowing he tried out for the Bejing summer Olympics and just missed making it. After that he switched to more cross training activities and clubs as the rowing became hard on his back and knees. Smart kid.
JK: For a number of us, our spine conditions are because of traumatic accidents, so they also changed us over night. Mine was a bicycle accident. Broke my back in two places. I lost 9 years of my life having surgery after surgery, recuperating and dealing with chronic pain. Yet here I am. KBear's was because of an 18 wheeler rear-ending her....two weeks after she had her second baby! She endured years of suffering until she had her spine surgery and it has also been a slow recovery. I'm not telling you all this so you can think "poor us," but rather nobody gets what you are going through like us! And there are people in this community who have had it way worse than you, me or KBear. Way worse. This community is an incredible support system for so many of us, and I hope it can be for you as well, but some of us have needed professional help along the way as an adjunct therapy. I know I did. Utilizing a therapist, along with my family here at SPS prevented me from committing suicide. I humbly offer that you seek professional help so you can get new eyes, and unstuck from the bad place your injuries have brought you to. You can also PM or call me or anyone else you feel comfortable with, if you need to just vent. I wish you only the best.
