Oh is he ever a cutie....with trouble in his eyes It's nice to know you will have someone to give you lots of kisses when you come home from surgery

When I started visiting a litter of Australian Shepherd pups to decide which one I wanted, there was a Blue Merle, which is a tri-colour of blue, white and a tiny bit of copper. I fell in love, named him and kept visiting, hoping he would be the one. Instead, I ended up with my black tri-coloured guy. The blue wouldn't have anything to do with me, while my pup kept leaving the rest of the litter and coming over to climb in my lap. He picked me

I've never heard of that colour description before, a bi-merle blue. Does it mean that he has two colours, and is that a description used with the Shelties more than other breeds? I'm really curious, as I'm not very experienced with the world of colour in dogs.

He is gorgeous...enjoy the puppy days...they disappear so quickly.

Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

I couldnt have said that better myself CL Ive got the sweetest most loving pitbull in the world and he has always been the one to make those "want to die" days a whole lot better. Especially when he hops up on the bed or couch and lays his head on my lap with the big ol puppy eyes staring me down.....how can you not have a brighter day with that?

Shoot, he even has his own facebook page....I got kinda upset when he had more friends than I did

Oh yeah. He's cute. I got a labradoodle (half lab, half poodle), the big kind. They have the hair like a poodle so they don't shed or cause allergies, the easy-going temperament of a lab and the super intelligence of a poodle. (of course there is no guarantee that it won't be the opposite.) I got him to run with me and protect me when I went running. Now with my back problems I can't run. He took about 2 years to get over being a puppy but he is now a wonderful companion. I take him to a field where he can run free and he leaps and runs like a deer.

Boy did you hit it on the head! i feel the same way about people that do not like animals. And people who abuse animals I can kill them with my bare hands even if I have a bad back. I just don't understand that.

My dog is on the next post. I finally got that picture. Tiffany is a Lhasa Apse. She was a beautiful dog. I said everything in the next one. i have a few more photos when she had her stroke. I will put them on when I have more time. I could not help but reply since what you said was exactly how I feel too. Thank you for posting. Carmen

Katie- I actually never heard of a bi-blue before I met my Henry either! I always wanted a merle blue sheltie ever since I was a kid and got my first tri sheltie. I love the blue. But when I found him in a shelter I did a bit of research and Bi-blue is in other breeds. Basically all the ones with the merle blue trait. There is one more which I was afriad (but relieved he was not) that he was a double merle blue. This makes the dog almost completely white(over 50%). Those dogs have a very tough life. They are usually deaf and blind and numerous of other health problems. Most of the pups get kill right off the bat. But some breeders like to have them to breed really nice merle colors, they never pass the double gene to the next generation.

Sorry I ramble. I was in a dog knowledge bowl team when I was a youth in 4-H... most of the stuff is still stuck in my head.

This are the exact same problems white boxers have. We have one, Jack, who is almost 8 years old. He is not blind or deaf or considered an albino, but has had major health problems, severe allergies, cancer 3 times, and skin conditions. Our joke is he is a 10 thousand dollar dog, though it's probably closer to 15 or 20 now. They used to be considered very undesirable and like you said would be killed upon birth. Now, I have found that people want them b/c they think they are rare. Ours is not registered to breed, I didn't know you could even register a white one, as the AKC does not recognize them as a pure boxer... b/c they are supposed to have a certain percentage of color. Not a biggie for us, as all of our animals are fixed, I think it makes them calmer.
