Dang, sorry that it was so painful for you; but good news that next time they will knock you out and the clean bill of health! I get to go back and do another in a year or two, can't remember for sure b/c they did remove precancerous polyps when they did mine. The prep was the worst for me and I was so starving by the time it was over, all I could think about was food. Made hubby take me to Schlotskys afterward, yum. Hope hubby made you an awesome meal!

Then arrival time was 6:45 am, so of course, we allowed plenty of time, since it was snowing, and for any emergency pit stops, (which I needed...thank-you Holiday Store for a super clean restroom, lol) only to arrive so early the building wasn't even open yet. lol I sat there trying to hold the urge
along with all the other early arrivals. Not a good feeling. As we sat in the car waiting for that damn door to unlock, my sweet hubby started making small talk with me...."well, I suppose I'll just work on my presentation this morning while I'm waiting for you" me: "how nice for you. I'm just trying not to $hit myself. That's my goal." We both just started belly laughing after that.
Finally the front desk guy unlocks the front door, with me standing there to greet him and make a mad dash for the bathroom. I had such a bad experience 6 years ago with my last colonoscopy I wanted to make sure this one went better. Once the nurse had me back changing into my gown, going over my medical history, and putting the IV in, I begged for more sedation so as not to remember anything. She said we only do conscious sedation here, but it should be enough so you won't remember. Ha. Famous last words. I told the doctor as well, when I was taken back into the procedure room about my last bad experience, and she said she would give me what she could. Well, unfortunately, even after alot of fentanyl and versed, I still screamed through-out the procedure in pain! I have, what they medically call, a tortuous colon, only meaning it has lots and lots of twists and turns in it, and that seems to be the problem. Of course the doctor, a female, who is terrific felt bad, but once again, she couldn't give me any more medication for fear of "respiratory depression." She said I will likely, for my next colonoscopy in 5 years, need to have it in a hospital setting so they can really knock me out. So I put that on my bucket list Katie. JK. lol My biological mother died of colon cancer, so I'm in a high risk category, along with her also having breast cancer, another high risk category. Anyway, needless to say, it was a very painful experience again, one I hope never to repeat under those conditions. My sweet hubby got me home, tucked me in bed, and I literally just woke up after 7.5 hours of sleeping. That felt good. He promised me he would cook me a steak tonight with marsala mushroom sauce, since I have had no solid food since Sunday this time. Can't wait!
(btw, I did lose 5 pounds during this joy ride....the only good coming from it...oh, that, and more importantly: an A + colon report card. Yay!!!) CL
