Gil, google his name and see what comes up. I just did, read his profile, years of experience, reviews, etc., and he got pretty stellar reviews, except for 1. Hopefully others will chime in too, with more first hand knowledge of him. Good luck, Cindylou

Dr. McAfee did my C5/6 replacement. He is a unique individual. If you met him on the street you would never guess what he does for a living. I was blown away by his approach. Most of the neuro/ortho MD's that I saw during my situation did the exam, poke prod, done write a rx, do some physical therapy, see then a few weeks later, repeat. Dr. McAfee talked with me to understand what was going on, the effect pain has on the person, not the patient. Caring, Compassionate and giving. Staff was out of this world. Others that I spoke with in the waiting room would echo my feelings. His surgical technique was flawless ( I have the DVD, its great to watch ). I have recommended many to Dr. Mcafee from simple back pain to multiple level reconstruction candidates. I would trust no one else to my spine since I met him.
    March 2003 - Car Accident (T-boned by a truck)
2003-2010 - Physical Therapy, Medication - Told to "deal" with it by multiple neurosurgeons
    2009 - Multiple steroid injections C5/6 - Failed
March 2006 - PCM Cervical Disc Trial C5/6 replacement
Dr. Paul McAfee, St Joseph Hospital Baltimore - The man is a genius - 5 years no pain and 95% ROM
    Jan 2011 - began symptoms of C4/5, C6/7 degeneration
    March 2011 - MRI confirms C4/5, C6/7 herniations
