So seriously, what caused this to happen? It sounds like she is getting a bit better with alternative treatments, which I agree can be iffy in these sort of cases, but what caused that to happen in the first place?

It sure had an effect on people deciding not to get the flu shot (H1N1) up here.
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

I hate all the fear mongering on vaccines. I know alot of mothers who will not and do not vaccinate their children, because of all the bad press. I wish the media would be more responsible in reporting stuff, rather than just stirring fear. How many people will die of the ful this year, that would have lived, had they had the vaccine?

I hear you. There is a ton of misinformation on the Internet as well.

I would like to point out that this is not dystonia. This individual is malingering or at least "playing the sick role." She picked the perfect disease to fake. So what caused this to happen: personal gain.

Here's a patient with a real case of dystonia:
