This comic strip was in our local paper, the Ottawa Sun. The name of the artist wasn't listed. It gave me a giggle ;-)

Justin, if it isn't appropriate, please remove; I did give proper credit where it was due I think ;-)
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Katie Very cute !! Do you live near Ottawa ? I grew up in Alexandria Bay,NY on the St.Lawrence River.Spent a great deal of time taking trips to Ottawa,Toronto, etc. since we lived so close to Canada. And back then you didn't need a passport to travel in.I came up two Christmas ago with the my children and traveled to Upper Canada Village for a outdoor Christmas display. My kids couldn't believe how cold it was.(it really wasn't that bad compared to how cold it can get there) .Anyway I have many fond memories of traveling up there.Beautiful.
    Thanks for the laugh

Funny. An ongoing joke with medical students is the "equation" P=MD, which means pass equals medical doctor.

Hi Caitlin, yes we are just south-west of the big city, about twenty minutes to the International Bridge. It is like getting into Fort Knox now, trying to cross the border, depending on which crossing you go through. As you say, passports are mandatory, and we've had our car thoroughly gone through several times. It really discourages cross border shopping.

I thought traveling with my dog and leaving lots of 'leftovers' from snacking in the car would make them leave us alone, but noooooooooo Apparently you can't gross them out

And your kids' comment about how cold it is here is funny. I used to live in the far north where -50 for weeks at a time was the norm (in winter only LOL ). When I moved here and the locals complained about the cold, I used to say that where I came from, we would pray that it would get UP to this temperature The climate really is changing though, with much less snow and warmer winters, plus hotter summers. I can do without the latter.

And for the P=MD....it's so true it's scary. I think I've run into every one of the 'bottom 50%' since I started my battle with the medical system here Sure wish we could find their school transcripts on line!
