KBear's having a rough time right now. Therefore, I encourage all of you to think of a couple of the good things that happened to you over the past week for her.
For me, the best three things were:
1. I was able to work in the office full-time Thursday and Friday.
2. My youngest just started Kindergarten and loved it! He wanted to wear is elementary school T-shirt every day this week. Of course, we didn't let him. It was stinky!
3. My wife and I saw "Wicked" last night. It was a challenge to sit through since it was nearly three hours long (including intermission). But, it was fantastic!

On a yummier note on my way home from the gym today I stopped off at a bakery & bought a lovely vanilla slice which was delicious. It was my treat for today to brighten my mood.

It was our sixth anniversary today and we went to the National Art Gallery. Fitting as we met at a small art studio of a mutual friend.
We stopped in at a funky deli on the way home, and got a chocolate cake that is gluten free, made of just heavy cream, chocolate and eggs. Not exactly diet food, but it is dense and big enough to last all week
Except for the last two days, my pain levels have been going down and I am much more active. Either that or the new long acting morphine capsules are working better than the short acting tablets. Either way, the pain is under control, at least most of the time. It feels great!
Next!
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things. Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!
- I was able to spend some time with one of my best friends that I have not seen in two years on Friday night.
- I signed up for some more cooking classes.
- We were able to refinance our house at a very low rate.
- I had a meeting with my school that reassured me of some things I was worried about.
- I start rehab this week -- finally!
- I was able to play my drums for the first time in a while.
- Our dog is finally learning to play catch and not just fetch (she never understood the whole "bring the ball back" part).
- My Dad's finally getting his spine fully worked up.
- I'm starting a new research opportunity.
- My Step Dad's biopsy came back benign.
