Default Got two offers on our house!

While we were still in Connecticut for my father-in-law's funeral, we got two offers on our house on Saturday night. We accepted one of the offers after countering back and forth a few times, and now we are down to the inspection this Thursday. I don't foresee any problems. Now we have 6 weeks to be out of the house! Aggggghh!! I am going house hunting all afternoon today with my agent and looking up packers and movers, as I know I cannot do a ton of the packing myself, because of my back. My anxiety level is rising big time. Time to breathe and.......find a home!

    WooHoo!!!!!
Such great news about your house! I will be thinking about you. You are right....just breathe. You will be fine but I can see how it is very daunting to think about packing up a whole house. I am a big schedule/list person. Maybe you can schedule different rooms to work on each day/week. This always helps me get something done. Good Luck! How exciting to go house shopping!!!! I love snooping around houses for sale.

Oh, and just to make it seem like you are very lucky, time frame wise....in my last house sale as a single person, I accepted an offer after a long wait, and had to be out in TEN DAYS .

Your packers will make it easy...sit back and supervise

    Cindy,

Buying a house and packing to move are terribly stressful situations; but not nearly so much as sitting on a property waiting for it to sell. Congratulations on getting the house sold. I KNOW it's a relief.

Thanks so much you guys! Yesterday was a FULL day of house hunting. Took lots of notes to keep each of the 11 properties straight in my head, and still forgot stuff when hubby drilled me about certain details. Thank goodness for the listing sheets to fall back on.

Out of all of those, there were only 2 that seemed "hopeful." But starting again this morning. I do love the looking process. I love houses, always have, so this part is fun, although throw in a healthy dose of stress too, since I am on a time crunch. Katie, I cannot even imagine moving in 10 days! It is going to be a challenge to pack everything.....but I am definitely going to hire folks to help, and will sell off some furniture too, once I know what will fit in a new place and what won't.

Inspection is tomorrow....sure hope no surprises there.

thumbsup Congrats on getting on selling your home. Not many are being sold nowadays so I am happy for you. Your agent should be able to give you some names of movers and the good ones will pack for you. I would pack what I definately want to be sure is packed correctly. I would also pack my jewelry, etc. If you need a housekeeper, ask your agent. That is why you are paying him. You may want to use the housekeeper to do some work on your new home before you move in. The movers usually bring their own boxes but for the packing you are going to do I would stop at my friendly grocers and pick up some boxes, but not too big in case you get stuck carrying them. Sometimes if the house is empty, the sellers will allow you to move some things in early, although there are certainly pro's and con's to that. You may want to talk to your insurance agent. Good luck with the move and all that goes with it. You will get through this. Take some photos of the before and after. You will be glad you did or better yet, videos. Carmen ::

    HI Cindylou

Congrats on getting a buyer for your home.

In Ca. the buyer has 17 days to complete any and all inspections, and to show the seller they can qualify for a loan.
Did your agent specify a time limit allowing the buyer to do these things?
You don't want to have anyone drag escrow out for too long of time, as you are relying on the proceeds for your next purchase.

I would suggest you pack and move any items of value, as jewelry, tax papers, or things you would have great difficulty replacing.

Also, you might take pictures of items, and check with the movers regarding the number of boxes they do pack, in case one gets lost, or something is damaged, so you don't have to argue about it at a later time.

I see by your bio, you had a PE, which I also had about 7 years ago.
One of the scariest things that ever happened, and luckily I was in the hospital hooked to monitors, so I could be resuscitated.

    Doug
