Hopefully CPS will understand how much love you have for Jerry and what a good home you would provide. Can you get letters of referral from your church, school and others who know you well, that may have some influence?

I hope the New Year starts out well for all concerned.
That's a great idea Katie. I will definitely do that, thanks! I did send an email that further explained why I had believed that Jerry was safe beforehand, because of the mom and dad being seperated and her telling me she would never leave Jerry with the dad. I also sent my neighbor's information and phone number to cps, because I had discussed the situation with her, prior to anything happening, so she can verify what my position was. She works for Cps and has a masters in social work, so I think they would weigh her word more heavily, since she knows what is on the line. I'm just praying and praying and trusting in God to do what is best for Jerry.
    Thank you CL & Katie!

Also, perhaps a hand written letter would make them take notice more than an email. To me it seems more formal, more effort put into it, but maybe that's just my age showing

Please keep us posted. This would be such a wonderful gift to both you and your little fellow.

The extent of Jerry's injuries are sickening. I am glad that he is now recovering and I hope he is resting well. He still has a long road ahead of him--we will be thinking about him.

Thank you everyone. I am now getting the referral letters and have received a few already. They finally called me yesterday to set up the family meeting hosted by CPS and a mediator, to discuss what will be best for Jerry. The meeting is tenatively set for Friday and will include myself, Jason's mother, grandmother and sister; and the mother, her mother and her 1/2 sister. I am hoping that everyone can put aside their differences and come together on a solution that will be the most benefit for Jerry.

    KBear,

Of all the terrible stories I've read on this site, Jerry's is hands down the worst. Lord have mercy.

Have the doctors given a time frame in which they can diagnose or rule out brain damage? Were the buckle fractures along the epiphyseal plates? If so, do they expect the plates to continue to grow? We are praying for the little guy.

    Good luck Friday, Jeff

BTW: Per Jason; a "man" would never hit a woman anymore than a "dad" would beat his defenseless infant son. Jason is a "sperm donor", not a man or a dad. If it's any comfort to you (and it is to me), I'm told that those boys in prison have no use for child abusers either; so Jason's likely in for a pretty rough ride when he gets to Huntsville.

I was on vacation and never kept up with the site while I was away as I was very burned out and in need of some relaxation. I am so sorry that this occurred. I pray for everyone in the family including the abuser. From your description of him he is seriously mentally ill and in need of treatment. Obviously that is not an excuse for his actions and he needs to be prosecuted for the terrible crimes he did to this poor child. I hope that you do get custody as you sound compassionate enough to give this child the care he needs and will need down the road. The baby is sure cute and deserves a chance at having a good life. Please keep us informed as to the outcome.

I pray you succeed in getting him in your care.

His growth is a huge concern, b/c it is on the growth plates, so he will need continued follow up. On the brain damage, it really is just wait and see. See if he hits his milestones or misses them. I will hopefully find out more tomorrow on his condition. I do know he is still on heavy narcotics for the pain, which he will probably need for some time. Thank you for your prayers for him!

I agree, he is no man at all, a wimp loser, the lowest of the low. I have also heard that it is bad things for people in prison who have hurt a child. I just hope they beat him; but he survives it.... death is to nice for him, he needs to live the rest of his life knowing what he did.

Thank you Terry. I know Jason does have serious mental issues that he needs treatment for (which I agree is still no excuse for what he did; but does offer some insight into the why... if you can ever understand anything like this) and I know that I will have to forgive him, or it will eat me up. I am struggling with this, and am not even close to forgiveness; but I will get there. The hardest part for me, is that he is still denying it and acting like it is all an accident. Makes it even harder to forgive when they won't even admit their wrong. I am praying and have several others praying for me, that I will forgive him. Thank you for your prayers, we appreciate them.

For the good news, all of Jason's family has agreed I should be the guardian. The mother of Jerry, still wants her mom or sister to have him; but that is unlikely. She lives with her mother, which would defeat the purpose of taking him away, to give him to someone in the same home as her. Plus, her mom works full time. Her sister has 4 kids, works and is battling cancer right now, so I doubt she will get him either. I'm trying not to get my hopes up; but it's too late. I'm nesting, getting his room all ready, shopping for furniture and stuff for him. I will update tomorrow after the meeting. It's at 1pm central time, so all just please pray, pray, pray that what is best for Jerry will be agreed upon by all parties!
