Kathy,
I'm glad that today is better. We are here to support you through all of the good days and bad. I hope there is an arrangement that will help make the injections possible.
Take a niceand pamper yourself for the evening.

Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things. Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

Hi KBear,
I was sorry to read you had a bad day yesterday and glad you're better. I know what you mean about hubby and others - they mean well but no one that hasn't experienced this can understand.
Just wanted to send you some good cheer - one day at a time!
Natalie
Kathy, glad you are feeling better too. We do all have those days, no doubt about it. And I'm glad you came on here for the comfort and encouragement. I have needed to do some catching up on here since my Mom just went back to Texas. And Dave is soooooo right. Guys are dumb. Most of 'em anyway! My husband can say very cruel things periodically, and then later feels terrible. He's Italian. He speaks before he thinks.
But on the bright side, big congrats on losing 10 lbs. That is huge. I am just starting that journey myself. So maybe we can check on each other with progress? Be well my friend. We have that trip in the cooker for next spring, remember?!

Hey everyone! After I posted on Sunday, I got a call and found out my grandma was in the hospital. She passed out several times and they took her to the ER. The hospital did MRI's and CAT scans of her. They determined she had a stroke; but not recently, probably a couple of months to a couple of years ago. She also had a UTI, which I understand is very serious in older people (she is 76). She was also diagnosed as a diabetic, with her blood sugar being 265 and it should be from 70-100. They checked her in and put her on IV antibiotics and insulin.
I spent the night at the hospital with her Sunday night (I live 5 minutes from the hospital). It was nice to be able to do that and to get to visit with her. They released her yesterday evening. She was put on oral meds for diabetes and told to check her blood sugar often. I'm not convinced that she will do what needs to be done to control it, she has been obese for as long as I can remember and definitely has a sweet tooth. I tried to warn her of all the things that can happen if diabetes is left unchecked, in a hope she will try to control it.
On a happy note, my brother, who I have been in a 3 year argument with, not by my choice, called me. He called on Sunday and begged me to just tell his wife I was sorry and loved her. I told him that I have already said this, took all the blame (even though not all of it goes to me) and she didn't accept it; but that I would do it. He was very sincere and told me he just wanted things back to normal; but his wife is still hung up on it. I saw her at the hospital, sucked up my pride, and lied my rear off and told her how I was so sorry and really wanted to be her friend. We'll see what happens.

Very sorry about your Grandma Kathy. Hopefully she will make attempts to keep her diabetes in check. So difficult for older people to change their habits. But I willon this one. She is the same age as my Mom! Good for you for taking the high road with your sister-in-law, again. We'll keep a wait and see approach, and let us know if things soften up a bit. I sure hope so. Family quarrels suck big time.
You feeling better too?
