We are sitting in the upper 70's, low 80's everyday with plenty of sunshine. Actually it is turning out to be an awesome summer here in West Michigan.

It's 104 here today. Way hot, typical Texas summer. I rode bike yesterday with my kids (and I was pulling the bike trailer with my 3 year old in it) ; it was so friggin hot. I thought I was gonna die by the time I made it to the pond from our house (maybe 1/2 a mile; but all uphill). We stopped for about 30 minutes and fed the duck and geese.

On our duck and geese, in Texas it is not super common to have geese or tons of ducks on a pond. When the neighborhood was built, they put a few duck on the pond and those usually come back every year plus they have babies that tend to come back. Well, for the last 4 years, the pond has had a major turtle population problem. You would be watching a baby duck float along and all the sudden disappear underwater, to a hungry turtle (which had kept our duck population to 6 or 7 ducks a year). Last year, they trapped and relocated over 100 turtles. I counted yesterday and we have 41 ducks! We also have 9 geese, which have just migrated to the pond and had 3 babies this year. The kids just love going there and feeding them, it's so much fun! We are all thrilled to have so many ducks and geese.

We have been having an awesome summer, weather wise, too. Very low humidity up at the cabin this past week, with highs of 75-80 degrees, and 55 at night. No air-conditioning at the cabin, and you don't need it. No complaints here!

Dave and CL seem to be having it "good" too. Kathy, I'm sorry about the blazing heat you are experience. That kind of heat gets exhausting very fast and can be very dangerous as well. Remember to drink a lot of cold water!
