The tax credit is a great way to help people do the right thing!

Justin, sorry to hear you're having "hot flashes" from the Fentanyl reduction. Hopefully, it will subside soon!

No, we actually have to pay extra for the recycling; but it is a mandatory charge, so even if you don't recycle you pay it. We can take our cans to an aluminum recycler; but it only pays like .05 a pound, so not worth the trouble. I am not sure; but I think our city gets paid for the recyclables and uses that mney and the money collected from us to cover the cost of the labor and trucks used to collect the stuff.

I liked it better when we lived in Austin where recycling was mandatory. In fact, if you throw away more than one garbage can worth of trash, you have to pay extra for it! However, you can recycle as much as needed. This program helps to encourage people to recycle more.

In our current town (just outside of Austin), we pay a separate company for the optional recycling service. The downside is that only about 10-15% of the people in our neighborhood recycle.

We pay extra for more than a container full of garbage too. Minnesota is big on recycling too.

We have 3 sizes of garbage cans and 3 sizes of recycling cans. All sizes of the recycling cans cost the same (which is the mandatory charge whether you recycle or not). The garbage cans cost more for larger sizes. We also pay more if we overflow the garbage can or set out extra bags.
