I am feeling like a complete jerk. I completely and totally forgot my hubby's birthday was today. I didn't even realize it until his mother called and told me that he told her that "either Kathy and the kids forgot or they are going to surprise me." So, I decided to play it off by surprising him. I invited some family and friends to go to dinner tonight. I'm gonna ask him to go out to eat tonight and not mention his birthday and tell him that that's where I want to go. Then we get there and "voila" it's a surprise party for him.
I also decided to get him so new Callaway Golf Clubs for his birthday. I found an awesome deal on them. I looked at some at Second Hand Sports that are brand new in the package that were $250 for the 3-sw irons. I thought that was too high (I know absolutely nothing about golf), so I went to The Academy to look for a set. I found the exact same set there for $600 and it only had the 4-sw! I immediately called Second Hand Sports and asked them to hold them for me. His dad, who is 77 and an avid golfer, is going to meet me up there to check them out. He told me bought the same set used a couple of months ago for $400, that if these are the same that it's a killer deal. I know hubby will be thrilled to get these, as his clubs are his dad's old one's. I also talked to friends that are coming to the party and got a couple
of people to go in together for him a golf bag. It is also at SecondHand Sports, is new with tags and is $60, versus $130 for the same one at Academy.
I know this is something he would never do for himself, so he will be stocked to get them. Hopefully, this more than makes up for my forgetting! Oh, and you can drop that wife of the year award in the mail whenever you get a chance; might want to just add it to the package that has my mother of the year award.

Kathy,
Calloways!!!??!! That's a great club. I'm hoping to play again next spring.
As far as forgetting his birthday, the day after our second anniversery my wife called me at work and asked if I knew what day it was. I hesitated and answered "the day after our anniversary?" She was very quiet and responded "well, I was going to say 2 tacos for Tuesday at Moes".
Needless to say I have several get out of jail free cards for years to come.
I hope you and your husband have a great birthday!

Justin & Dave- Thanks
Bob- That is hilarious, you definitely got lots of brownie points for that.
So, I lied to hubby (you know to save his feelings... and my a$$). I told him that the plan was to "pretend that we forgot his birthday" and then surprise him with the party, so he would be non-suspecting. It worked, no one ratted me out and as far as he knows the party had planned for awhile. I had about 20 friends and family there and he loved it.
I ended up getting the Calloway X-20 irons. I even got a better bargain. I'm not one to ask for a lower price in a store; but my dad told me he is in there all the time and to tell the guy I was his daughter and ask for a better price. I did, and he gave me the irons for $210! They have literally never even been hit!
The bag ended up having a bad zipper, so I didn't buy it. I bought a new one, it was $140; but I got 7 people to pitch in $20 each to pay for it. It's a really nice bag.
We gave him a little gift and cards at home (I had to blow the surprise because he was gonna work late, so had to tell him that there was a party). I wanted him to think that was the gift, and he did. When everyone arrived at the party, we handed him the card with all the names on it and he thought that was it. I then brought the clubs and bag in, he was shocked! He absolutely loved it and was so excited! It was great, he then started telling his brother how he was gonna whoop him on the course this weekend and doing the man bragging thing. It was great.

Sounds like you had a real busy day sorting things out. Glad you managed to get things organised though without any aggravation. Hope you were having a good spine day with no after effects.

This puts us spiney's lifes so well, very well put. My pain is about average today, although I had an awesome day on Wednesday. I took a vicodin at 7am and didn't need another until 4pm! Usually, I am taking my fourth or fifth one by then. Unfortunately, the rest of that evening, I ended up taking like 3 or 4 more. I'm really thinking it is stress related, because I was also working on my bills from noon to 7pm (very stressing with all the medical bills and wondering how the heck I'm gonna pay them). Thanks for asking.
