    Cool

    Cool Chair.

Want to know what is really cool about those chairs? All the plastic parts are made by me. Not personally, but in our company. We have a few in the offices and they are reallllly comfortable work chairs.

I actually use a Think chair by Steelcase.

Dave, that's awesome! Do you think they are worth the price? I've yet to find a comfortable chair for studying. The Think chair you have looks comfy. How do these two chairs compare? Thanks for your help.

    Justin,

When the Aeron Chair was first introduced, it was going for $1,000. Now you can pick them up for as little as $550, the basic model, and up to $750-$800 for a fully equipped model.

The Think Chair that I have is great. The lumbar support is not quite as good, but it is better that most others out there. Think will run around $600. Another by Steelcase is the Leap Chair. A little cheaper that the Think, but also not quite as supportive.

Personally, I love the Think Chair. Fully adjustable height, arms, tilt and lumbar location support insert.

Dave, thanks for your help and Steelcase recommendations. The Aeron chair is expensive, but I think it might be worth it considering I have to sit for many hours when I study. I'm probably going to head to a show room to see / sit / feel soon.

    Justin,
I have the Aeron chair and it is awesome. I have the fully equipped model and can sit for a long time w/o problems. I am really happy that I got it. I bought one for my husband too.

The Aeron chair is incredible. I had a different chair pre-surgery. When I was back to work for less than a month I realized how God-Awful my chair was. I called my office supply place and they brought me a few chairs for try outs. In less than a week I had decided on the Aeron. I love the thing as it is highly flexible in the adjustments section. Once you have it set up it is customized for you and does not need any more adjustments.

Besides, if it's made in Michigan by Dave, it's gotta be great!

I'm also a chair fan going back well before I had any back concerns and especially now that I do. As Terry mentioned you cannot go wrong with the Aeron. It's probably the most sold task chair of the last 10 years.

When i got my first serious work chair / sustainable task seating I chose the Human Scale Freedom Chair and, to date, probably the best money I've spent in terms of long-run value. It was around a thousand at the time (2001) and I believe it still sells around that price nine years later so these specialty chairs of all brands definitely require a commitment. It is one of the few things I feel is smart to "get right" and spend a bit on if need be, though I'm quite frugal.

The Freedom Chair is a great seat from an engineering perspective as is the Aeron but now, as Dave mentioned, that an Aeron is around $550 I'd say it's a no-brain. I'd go with the Aeron at near half the cost. The Think Chair is brilliant as well. No matter the choice, they all have ample lumbar support and any will be a dramatic improvement on what you're used to.

The only one I still haven't test spun is the Embody Chair by Herman Miller below. Again, it runs a a bit too high for me so my vote is the Aeron due to excellent function and best current value.

Human Scale also has a "Diffrient World Chair" coming out soon. "Diffrient" being the designers last name: Niels Diffrient
