Yes it is and summer is almost gone. The city of Grand Haven is known as "Coast Guard City, USA", so every year we throw a huge week long party honoring the Coast Guard. This weekend caps things off with a large parade and fireworks extravaganza(some of the best in the country).

You will find that as you get older, that time seems to go by faster. Seems like yesterday I was in high school, but our 30th reunion is this year.(Dang I feel old again.)

Enjoy your young years, they go by in the blink of an eye.

Oooh, I know. Around this time I almost feel a little panic set in, as summer winds down. Way too short this year. June was still cold, so we really just started summer weather in July, and now here comes August! Hopefully, we'll be able to extend the season with a nice Indian summer in September.

Wow, not summer in June? I can't fathom that, it starts heat here in May, March and April are our spring. In July, we have had like 20+ days of 100+ temps. August will be a bit cooler, 90's. September, October and November will be 70-80's, our fall. I love summer; but the heat is getting old, have to keep my kids indoors most of the day, because it is just too hot for them to be out (unless we are swimming).

That's why I left Texas after living there for 28 years. Couldn't take the heat anymore! Course, didn't help that I was in the throws of peri-menopause at the time! Also didn't hurt that hubby got a promotion that entailed moving to twin cities, my home town. I think I would have left even without the promotion! A few things that I will always miss about Texas tho are: a great plate of Tex-Mex; no state income tax; my Mom; my best friend; 6th Street in Austin, Tx where the music scene is HOT! and the awesome hill country around Fredricksberg, Dripping Springs, New Braunfels, and Wimberely Texas....where they have some of the best tubing in the world down the Guadalupe River! and.......finally, some of the gosh darndest nice people you will ever meet.
