    Default A little reprieve.........

I drove up to the cabin right after closing on the old house and immediately fell into bed and crashed. Hubby was about an hour behind me. He took a nap too when he arrived. The night we slept at our son's house our poor dog was extremely stressed out. She kept pacing, I am sure wondering where home was. We let her out thinking she needed to go, and she immediately ran across the street where the pick-up was and sat down by it, at like 3 am. Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep that night. Now we are finally enjoying a few days of rest at the cabin which is awesome. Haven't done much but sleep, eat and read. Oh, for joy! Head back to twin cities in a couple days for the other closing and that will feel good too, then back up to cabin for about a week while some work is done on new place. My only advice: Don't ever move. Way too stressful. No, seriously, we are glad we are down-sizing, when all is said and done. It's just getting there that is the mother load of stress.

    Cindylou,

I don't know how you managed moving. Once upon a time, I was a military dependent (now retired) and moved every 4 years. You hit the nail on the head ... it's a mother load of stress!

Glad to hear you are on the tail end of it.

    Enjoy!

One of the good things about moving is it does force you to touch every single, and I mean every single thing you own. Great time to purge, donate, trash, etc. We filled up two dumpsters of trash. We had lived in this last house for 10 years. It is simply amazing what you accumulate during a period like that. My Mom and Mother-in-law have each lived in their homes for 30 + and 50 years, respectively. I sure don't look forward to helping them downsize one day! Definitely call in the pros. Gave away a lot of stuff too. Felt good.

I know exactly what you mean. After all the moving I did, I am still in the habit of purging, throwing things out and giving away stuff we no longer use or wear. I could have a garage sale, but have never cared for doing it. I like to give it away to someone I know or to an organization I know can use it.

My parents have lived in their place since the mid-70s. They have stuff everywhere gathering dust. Don't get me wrong, they are not hoarders, but they have a lot of stuff they rarely, if ever, use. It would take a lot of work for them to move - glad it's not me

I am glad you are enjoying your new home!
