What is the best mattress for the best sleep and correct spine posture .

We need a new one.

I bought a memory foam/latex mix mattress. It feels just like a Tempurpedic mattress but I paid literally 1/2 the price for it.

When I went to see my grandmother in Germany a few years ago, she had a similar mattress & when I slept on it, I noticed that I had less back pain the next day. I kept that in mind when I went shopping

Well, like everything, what suits one person may not suit another. But if you hear from a number of different folks you can go test out which one feels best for you. Personally, I love my Chatham and Wells mattress. It is a quite luxurious line, (I believe out of California) meaning $$ ka-ching, ka-ching, but hey, it's our backs. I love this bed. I think as we approach middle age, and then add to that those of us with spine issues, an excellent mattress is an investment we just cannot ignore. There are other terrific mattresses out there and you'll hear from those folks as well. Be prepared to spend some money on a real decent one.

My wife and I love our Tempurpedic. We actually purchased it after our car accident in 2003, which left me bed-ridden. It took us about a month to get used to because it is so different from other mattresses. I think they have a 90-day trial period in which you can return it for a full refund if you don't like it.

After arguing with my husband for months, that a good mattress was going to cost some dough and that a good one would make a difference; he finally gave in and let me get a new one. I purchased a Simmons Beauty Rest Black (with 1" of memory foam on top). I got a King and they retail for about $3-4K. I love it, and hubby does to. After a week, hubby told me that he was glad that I got it and that I was right, it made his back feel good (said he felt like he was in his 20's again). My friend had a sleep number and was in need of a new bed, she shopped around and also decided on a Simmons Beauty Rest Black. After a few nights, they both agreed that they love it.

You're gonna get different, and great answers! Like Kathy, I think we spent close to 4 grand on ours too. It comes with a 20 year warranty. An expensive mattress should always come with a great warranty. For the folks that mentioned the Tempurpedic memory foam mattress, do you ever find that you get hot on that mattress? My sister-in-law bought one of those a few years back, loved it, but when she went into menopause she said it made her really hot. Just curious.

CL- I have heard the same thing. I was dead set on a memory foam mattress; but after reading hundreds of reviews, I changed my mind. While in most reviews, people liked the mattresses, I read over and over about the getting hot. I also read about the foam holding your shape so well, that when you change positions, the foam still being shaped to your original position and it taking a long time for it to re-fluff up. That's why we went with 'hybrid' mattress, traditional springs (although they are the individually wrapped one's, so one person can move and the other one does not feel it) and 1" of memory foam on top. We tried the sleep number (bought it and returned it), we hated it, to us it felt like sleeping on an air mattress. I have friends who swear by that bed, so it all comes down to personal preference. Most major mattress stores allow you a 90 day trial period, where you purchase the bed, bring it home and have 90 days to back out and get all your money back. So, you could always buy one and if you hate it, get a different one.

The Tempurpedic does get a little warm here and there, but it's an added bonus in the winter. In regard to the foam holding it's shape when you turn--I've never really noticed it, so I couldn't tell you. When my head hits the pillow, I'm out...I sleep that well on this thing. It never used to be like that on other beds, as I would toss and turn all night. It's probably not the best mattress if menopause is around the corner

, but I've come to really like it and the 20 year warranty is pretty good.
