Default On Monday I will become....

    a grandmother

My daughter called today to say she was going to be induced at the first of the week. There is some question as to whether the baby girl is gaining weight properly, and since she is almost at full term, they are taking some precautionary measures.

    What a great homecoming present
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

Congratulations! Where does she live? Close enough to babysit occasionally?

My picture is me holding my granddaughter. Since she lives in Hawai'i, we don't see her very often. I hope that yours will be close.

Regardless, soon you'll be able to bend over and pick her up - pain free!

    CONGRATS!

Grandma is the best title and role one can have besides Mom. Our 3 grandbabies live a days ride away so we don't see them very often. But when we do see them, I spoil them. I guess that's why when they get mad at their parents they stomp their little feet and boldly announce in a huff that they are going to go live with Grandma and Grandpa.

    Enjoy your little one!

Thanks everyone. Well, the little darling is a stubborn one and has failed to make an appearance yet. My daughter has been in the hospital since early yesterday, getting the meds she needs to make this happen, but no success yet.

She thinks baby may make an appearance tonight sometime or tomorrow morning. We are babysitting her Great Dane in the meantime.

Yes, she does live relatively close...about an hour and a bit away, on the east side of the city. Since I am now not allowed to drive for three months, it will put a cramp in my plans to visit a lot, but we'll work that out So by this time tomorrow, I should be able to tell you her name

Such an exciting time. You'll be back able to visit soon enough, just concentrate on recovering at the moment.

I hope she either isn't in pain yet or has some good drugs. My first didn't want to come either, 38 hours of induction and labor and it sucked! I got cheated out of my epidural (had it all of an hour before both doses of meds wore off.... thanks to my pain management issues). I seriously almost didn't have a second child because the first labor was soo bad. I feel for your daughter and hope she is at least comfortable. Can't wait to hear more.
