I am sorry to hear about your sons knee pain. He needs to see another Doctor and get a MRI he could have scar tissue or another tear .

My son's knee appt. today Wasn't quite sure where to post this, so I stuck it here in The Lounge. Always a safe bet. My 21 year old had his Dr. appointment this morning with the Sports Medicine Specialist to see if he could help determine the source of his knee pain. Well, turns out the doc was a pompous SOB. I just got off the phone with Zach and he said the doctor literally had a grin on his face while he was examining him, and said something to the effect of, "all kids get pain in their joints while growing. Your knees are fine. And your foot looks fine too." Zach waited two weeks for that! He's only worked 2 days this week due to his knees being so painful. The pain is keeping him up and fitful all night. Now I'm sorry I didn't go to the appt. with him. I had an appt. with my agent to look at several possible homes for us. He also told Zach that he could order an MRI, but they aren't going to find anything. "Z" said he couldn't get out of there fast enough, he was so pissed and felt like he was being treated like ****. So....I told him to call the foot doctor back, and he did, and we are going together to see him this Monday afternoon. Get an x-ray and possibly an MRI, and if it doesn't show anything we will go to the first knee doc Z saw, and demand an MRI. His left knee is the one he had ACL major reconstruction on when he was in middle school from a football injury. So perhaps he has some floating bone or meniscus damage that is just not showing up on the x-ray. Z is a great kid. Great attitude. Exceptional student. Senior at the University. Here is a pic of him with me at Christmas. This is not some slacker punk that doesn't want to work his summer job, so he came up with a knee excuse. I am so angry I could spit.

February 15, 2011 ESI bilaterally in lower lumbar...relief only for few days. Considering 1 more.

CL, I understand your frustration. I do hope your son will get this "figured out" soon. I'm sure he wants to get it figured out before heading back to school. Please keep us posted on what you guys find out.

It's too bad that he's getting a taste of the bad side of health care. At least he gets a feeling of how you, his mom, is feeling most days pain wise, and it will help teach him empathy for others. He shouldn't have to suffer like this at his age, and it is a hard lessonI am very sorry that he got an @ss for a doctor.

Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things. Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!
CL- Sorry he got an a$$ for a doctor. That sucks. Some doctors just think they are so smart and know it all. I hope this next doctor will be able to find out what is causing his pain.
Oh, and off subject, he is very cute
31 years old-
1/06- In wreck with 18 wheeler at 25 years old; 6/06- Head on collision on Interstate, both wrecks other drivers fault. Numerous MRI's, PT, chiropractic, acupuncture, TENS therapy, massage therapy, facet injections, epidural injections, Nerve study, Discogram, confirms pain in L4/5, IDET, decompression, Bi-lateral neurotomy L3/4/5, denied by insurance twice, in Active L clinical trial, had surgery March 17, 2009 in Miami, FL- received Active L disc at 29 years old. Pain and medication free as of October 2010!
Mommy to Emma- 8 years, Ava- 5.5 years & had baby Eli after ADR, via c-section on March 25, 2011, completely pain free still!

Thanks all. Sorry I was so upset, but I become a lioness with my cubs when someone crosses one of them or treats them so poorly.
